– professional starer out of windows and writer of the beautiful word –

“You will never get anywhere sitting around daydreaming all day.” Or at least that’s what mom would say every time she caught me deep in a thousand-yard stare. Like any good teenager, it was usually my response that irked her the most. Best to say that it was something along the lines of “but what if I solved the world’s problems, while staring out the window all day?”

Over the years I’ve stared out client and agency windows 40 floors up and just off the ground floor. Sometimes, near the corner, others, from across a room of cubicles. In that time, I’ve been fortunate to work with some of the most talented people in the business on some truly great brands. I’ve helped win new business, launch brands, revive old ones and even win a few awards along the way. And while I’ve loved every miserable part of it, mom would still occasionally asks why?

Every day is new, new problems, new clients and new opportunities to ask what if? For me, it’s a job whose cost of entry is more than just creativity. It requires an unquenchable need to explore and understand problems followed by a near unconscious and unyielding desire to solve them (either that or it’s just fun to turn phrases and twist words into new thoughts). When it comes down to it, I do not care about titles, I do not care about credit (that much), I care about finding unique and interesting solutions to client’s problems. Of course getting paid to daydream is pretty cool too.

If you’d like to see some of that daydream-influenced work, I encourage you to check out the rest of my portfolio. Of course, if you’re just looking for some good conversation over coffee or beer, then I’m there, or here rather.
